TOUR THE CHURCH
This Sunday after the service, those who are new to the church on Aurora will have an opportunity to discover all the nooks and crannies and surprising passages in the building. Rev. Steve and Bert Patterson will be conducting a tour during coffee hour. Don’t miss it!

OUR PENTECOST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
Last Sunday was a glorious, joyous celebration of Pentecost, the birth of the church, together with our sister congregation of St. Edward the Confessor, and led jointly by Father Mike Shaw and Reverend Steve Gillam. We heard the story in many ways, as the apostles understood it on Pentecost in their many languages. We listened as Chloe and Philip (aka, Charyl Hyndman and Rev. Steve) a Nazarene couple, recounted the astonishing events of that day. We watched the story told with exquisite beauty in dance, a living prayer by Pilar Espaillat. We felt Wind of the Spirit streamers, swirling all around the church with the children: Holly, James, Luca and Ella. We saw the fiery paper tongues of flame above the heads of people in the pews. We all wore red. We heard the story in the music of the combined choirs of St. Edward and Lakeshore Trinity and then, Rafael and Margaret de Castro together at the organ, four hands in a triumphant finale.
Following the service, we continued our celebrations outdoors with coffee and a magnificent cake made by Linda Jones. Rev. Steve and Father Mike cut the cake with the able assistance of Kasia and Ariana Palmer-Gaca.

MASKS IN CHURCH
Although public health regulations no longer require masks in most public spaces, including churches, we continue to recommend the wearing of a mask when moving around in the church. We thank you for your understanding.

NAKON:HAKA REGIONAL COUNCIL MEETING
The Nakon:haka Regional Council held a successful meeting at Lakeshore Trinity last Saturday. The Council thanked outgoing president, Linda Buchanan, for her service over the past 3 years, and welcomed Marc Grenon as the new president. Marc is a lay person from the South Shore area.

Thank you to Fiona Wardrop and her team, who set out coffee and tea and sweet treats for the Council. The delegates were very pleased at the return to face-to-face meeting, and they were especially appreciative of the homemade goodies. Thank you to all who responded so generously to our call for baking.

UNITED CHURCH OF CANADA 97TH ANNIVERSARY
June 10 is the 97th anniversary of the founding of The United Church of Canada. Here is the headline from the Toronto Daily Star, June 10, 1925, announcing: “UNITED CHURCH OF CANADA IS BORN TO-DAY. Before a sea of 8,000 eager faces, an outpouring of Thanksgiving: Union of four churches declared”
Happy Birthday to our United Church!

SUMMER NEIGHBOOURHOOD MARKET IN POINTE-CLAIRE
Doris McConnell calls our attention to The Neighbourhood Market, a project by the TQSOI (Table de quartier sud de l’Ouest-de l’île), in collaboration with Bread Basket. It will be held every second Wednesday from 4pm-7pm in the parking lot of the Bob Birnie arena from July 6 to October 12.
The market’s goal is to make fruits and vegetables from West Island farms affordable and accessible to all. The market is open to all but aims to primarily serve people with a low physical and/or economic access to fresh produce. All prices are suggested, meaning shoppers who may need to pay a bit less, can, and those that can pay more, can round up their bill. Shoppers who pay more than the suggested price contribute to the wellbeing of the community and create a balance so their neighbour can pay less.

UKRAINE IN OUR PRAYERS STILL
