WHERE OUR FOOD DONATIONS GO:
DORVAL COMMUNITY AID
Dorval Community Aid is a department of City of Dorval offering a variety of services to marginalized citizens. Among these, the food bank provides a monthly basket of non-perishable goods and fresh produce to Dorval citizens in need. Funding for the programs comes partly from the municipality and partly from public donations.
Kathy Palesch-Watson recounts that Dorval-Strathmore United has long been a strong supporter of Dorval Community Aid. Each year at Christmas time, the church staged a community music concert, organized by Gordon Simms and Lorraine Pitre, and involving church members and other local musicians. Admission to the annual Mimosa Concert (named for the street where Gordon and Lorraine live) included a donation of non-perishable food. Following the concert, the proceeds of the ticket sales, and an roomful of donated food were given to Dorval Community Aid.
Here at Lakeshore Trinity, the spirit of generosity continues. Dorval Community Aid, along with Saint Columba House, and the West Island food banks, On Rock and West Island Mission, all benefit from our donations.
2023 UNITED CHURCH CALENDARS
The 2023 Canadian Church Calendar is available. If you would like a copy you may email or call Lisa at the church office or email Dale, by October 28. Please indicate how many you would like. Cost is $10 each.
“The 2023 calendar contains a small collection of some of our favourite Bible passages. Some comfort, some challenge, and all have inspired and helped us to seek God and God’s wisdom in our daily lives. We hope they will do the same for you. Along with colourful photos of United Churches from across Canada, the calendar notes special days and church seasons, liturgical seasons and colours, significant United Church days, and lectionary dates.”
