WE REMEMBER
This Sunday, November 6, we observe Remembrance Day.
The choir will sing a hymn written in 1916 by English poet, Clifford Bax, as an “Anthem for Peace and Anti War”. The music was arranged by Gustav Holst.

Turn Back O Man

Turn back O Man, forswear thy foolish ways
Old now is Earth, and none may count her days,
Yet, thou, her child, whose head is crowned with flame,
Still wilt not hear thine inner God proclaim-
Turn back O Man, forswear thy foolish ways

Earth might be fair and all men glad and wise,
Age after age their tragic empires rise.
Built while they dream and in their dreaming weep.
Would man but wake from out his haunted sleep-
Earth might be fair and all men glad and wise.

Earth shall be fair, and all her people one,
Nor till that hour shall God’s whole will be done.
Now, even now, once more from earth to sky
Peals forth in joy man’s old undaunted cry-
“Earth shall be fair, and all her folk be one!”

HAPPY HAT SUNDAY
Rev. Steve will be passing the Happy Hat this Sunday, November 6, in support of the United Church Mission and Service Fund. This is our opportunity to celebrate the wonderful work of M&S, and to make a special offering in honour of something special happening in our lives. So, bring along some change for the hat!

Jingle Bell Bazaar, Tea Room
Saturday, November 19, 9 AM – 2 PM
Please let Rev. Steve know if you are able to help on Saturday at the sale or Friday, November 18, sorting and pricing.

Please continue to bring in your holiday-themed treasures and trinkets, seasonal clothes and books to the church for the sale. Start planning your baking!

WHERE OUR FOOD DONATIONS GO:
WEST ISLAND MISSION
West Island Mission provides well-balanced, high-quality food assistance and other related aid to people living with food insecurity in the West Island of Montreal. They offer programs of monthly food assistance, Christmas food baskets and back-to-school support. According to Doris McConnell, when CAC was operating out of St. John’s United, they had a very good relationship with West Island Mission, sometimes sharing food when one or the other had a surplus. Doris says that WIM was particularly helpful after CAC closed, welcoming the former CAC clients.

Here is West Island Mission’s list of most needed items:

Doris McConnell has generously offered to co-ordinate the distribution of our food donations to the four food banks that we support here at Lakeshore Trinity. We are very grateful for her willingness to ensure this important part of our mission as a church.
Thank you, Doris!

WE GIVE THANKS

The email address for e-transfer is: ltuc98givings@gmail.com. Please include your envelope number and indicate how you wish to have your offering divided. If not indicated, it will be designated as local offering.

Cheques should be made payable to Lakeshore Trinity United Church. They may be dropped in the mail slot at the church or sent by regular mail if you are not attending church in person.

ABOUT E-TRANSFER
It is time to order offering envelopes for 2023. Our Finance Chair, John MacNair, asks us to please consider making our donations to the church by e-transfer. Doing so is convenient for the giver, but it also benefits the church. The use of e-transfer reduces our costs (and saves some trees). It also simplifies the weekly collection counting process, saving us time, and reducing the chance of errors.

Envelopes will still be available for those who wish, but we encourage the use of e-transfer. The change can be made at any time. If you have questions, please feel free to contact John MacNair (email: johnmacnair99@gmail.com), or our Treasurer, Janet Hood-Morier (email: j.hood.morier@gmail.com, phone: 514 694-5278). They will be happy to answer questions, or to assist with the transition.
