KAHNAWAKE UNITED CHURCH QUILT DRAW
As a congregation, Lakeshore Trinity has been looking at the many ways of seeking reconciliation with our Indigenous sisters and brothers. For example, Every Child Matters orange t-shirts day has been celebrated at the end of September. In the coming months we will be looking at ways we can connect, community to community.
One way to connect is by supporting each others’ ministries. At Kahnawake United Church, there is only one fundraiser and that is their famous quilt draw. A hand-made quilt is put together with individual squares made by people in the community and church. One ticket (at $20) will let your name be placed on a digital wheel. This will be spun, live, on a church website, before which all the names will be read out. The winner will then be contacted and a beautiful heirloom delivered.

Tickets can be purchased from me this Sunday at the Corn and Apple Crisp Lunch, or contact me by email …..mountain@saintly.com

PLAY TIME!

Rev. Steve will back on the stage this fall, at Theatre Morin Heights. The show will run from October 18 to 22 (four evenings, two matinees) at the Chalet Bellevue in Morin Heights.

The play is called “Have a Heart”, written by local playwright David Sherman. It was first performed at Montreal’s Centaur Theatre, when David was playwright-in-residence there, and was commissioned by Gordon McCall.

Steve says: “It is a funny and touching comedy about a man (me) facing some health issues (the need for bypass surgery) which he is ignoring… much to the chagrin of his devoted wife, his adult daughter (who encourages him to embrace her new found Buddhist yoga practices), and his cantankerous old dad.”

Tickets go on sale this Friday, September 15th. Tickets and more information are available on the Theatre Morin Heights website: https://theatremorinheights.ca/current-show/

Rev. Steve Gillam can be reached by phone or text at 514-235-9383 or by email at macduffsdad@hotmail.com.
