December 17th: Advent III We celebrate Joy:

A Christmas Pageant for all:
This Sunday, we are all invited to take part in the telling of the Christmas story. We are encouraged to dress up as we are inspired: robes and a glittery crown can make a king, or a cotton ball pinned to a collar can be a sheep. (There are costumes hanging in the cloakroom for last minute ideas). Whether we want to join in the manger scene at the front, or whether we prefer to experience the moment from our place in the pew, it is all good. Come with joy!

Giving With Joy:
Our Mitten Tree is laden with mittens, hats and scarves, thanks to your generous donations. These will be taken to Saint Columba House, where they will be gladly received, and given out at their after school programs.

Proceeds from Christmas Offering Envelopes (located in the pews) will be divided equally among Montreal City Mission, Saint Columba House, and food insecurity agencies.

White Gifts (unwrapped please) will be collected beneath the Christmas tree in the sanctuary.

We Welcome By Baptism
This Sunday, we light the candle of Joy, and with joy we celebrate the baptism of Rafaela Cruz, daughter of Kimberly MacNair and Sergio Cruz, and granddaughter of our Chair of Finance, John MacNair. Rafaela and her parents, and her younger brother, Caspar, live in Döttingen, Switzerland.

John has recently returned from a visit to Switzerland, enjoying precious time with this lovely family.

Welcome and blessings to you, sweet Rafaela!

THE SHARING STREET PARTY

Doris McConnell lives in a very community-minded neighbourhood. Recently they held a block party, complete with chili, hot dogs, baking, a Photo Booth, even a movie for the children. Knowing about Doris’ close involvement with the food banks, the organizing committee invited everyone to bring a non-perishable food item to the party. Doris says that she was very touched by the generosity of her neighbours, and that she now has a carload full of food for our collection bins.

Thanks to Rod and Lyne Troy for delivering last month’s collection to Saint Columba House.

WANTED: A YOUNG ACTOR

Plans are underway to resurrect the murder mystery dinner show this spring. This has been a long time and much-loved tradition with Rev. Steve and Dorval-Strathmore. We are looking for one more actor: approximately 13 years old (a little older or younger is okay) of any gender, with or without acting experience.

The first read-thru will be in early January, with rehearsals once a week (or less, at first) on a flexible schedule. Performances will be Saturday evenings in April.

Spread the word to your family. If interested, contact Rev. Steve soon: text/call 514-235-9383 or email macduffsdad@hotmail.com for more info.
